This painting was an outburst of peace. I often daydream about painting, and finally losing myself in one feels like a release. It’s like hunting—the thrill of the chase culminating in the deep satisfaction of a finished piece. These works are stepping stones, guiding me toward the larger, truer paintings I long to create. The simplicity of using just two colors and one tool is beautiful to me. The black background embodies the vast emptiness of space, while the white figures represent hope piercing through it. The drips capture a sense of disorder and freedom—an organized chaos that revels in the mess. A couple who saw me painting in this alley returned today and saw the finished work. Their smiles, knowing they witnessed a moment that shaped a creation, were truly uplifting.
